The Future Starts with a First Step

Ahoy!

Like most opinionated people, I feel I have enough inspired and unique ideas to author a book. As such, I have worked on a concept for some time. In an effort to accelerate this work, and see my dream of authorship through to completion, I’ve put together this website.

The goal of my book is to articulate, as well as possible, through narrative and analogy, my thoughts on various aspects of modern life and its evolution. The book intends to cover myriad political and social issues, most importantly the role that technology, such as Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), will play in shaping this future.

The goal, of this website, is to work through the various concepts I have thought about, predominantly technological concepts detailed in the book. I’m doing this as a means of documenting my thoughts, and of creating the correct timeline and evolution to support my narrative. What I’m hoping is that I can inspire / coerce / compel some people to contribute / challenge / refute / mock my concepts, so that my finished product is all it can be.

The book is intentionally dystopian but that is not to say that my personal outlook for our future is. While I do admit that, with the current geo-political climate, and with my healthy propensity for cynicism, I can easily profess a dystopian view. However, my goal for this book is not to attempt to foreshadow the inevitable, but rather provoke thought and spark critical thinking about our present and our future. I fundamentally believe people are good, and that technology is not malign, but rather simply a force-multiplier for human endeavor. Given that technology is rapidly increasing in its capability to influence, persuade, and eventually even reason with us; I believe it is imperative that we look at the role of technology in our lives with a sober and realistic eye.

I don’t believe I’m going to solve world peace with this book, and I’m certainly not going to initiate a quixotic mission to change any reader’s political beliefs. But I do believe to my very core, that it’s through discourse, respect, and human interaction, that we will grow and avoid some of the pitfalls I attempt to outline in my book.

Eventually, once the book is in a good enough state, I’ll start sharing early versions of my content with people for direct feedback and discussion, but as I’m hoping to (at least) cover my costs of publishing this work, I’ll not distribute the entire work on this site.

So, if you are so inclined, join me on this journey of my first ever book. All thoughts, feedback, and inspiration are welcomed, and anyone who contacts me, in earnest, will get a reply.
